- Manage collaborations with external parties to develop and validate diagnostics.
- Mentor team members and help set the standard for good diagnostic practice.
- Documentation and communication of designs and results.
- Analyze data. Extend our understanding of plasmas and plasma compression by relating experimental data with theory and simulation
- Assist in the assembly, testing, installation, calibration, and operation of diagnostic equipment as needed.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in physics, engineering physics, or related field.
- Significant relevant experience in a physics laboratory environment, designing experiments and analyzing measured data.
- Demonstrated experience designing, testing, and debugging instrumentation for experimental or industrial settings.
- Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary projects and external collaborations.
- Ability to translate mathematical and physics concepts into real-world applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience leading, mentoring, or managing technical staff and comfortable leading in a fast-paced startup environment
- Motivated to grow your scope and take on broader responsibility as the diagnostics team scales.
- Proven ability to work well within and across teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
Nice to have:
- Background in plasma diagnostics; hands-on experience with plasma diagnostic systems
- Strong programming skills (Python, MATLAB, or similar)
- Experience with optical systems
- Familiarity with data acquisition hardware, signal processing, and/or EM noise treatment
- Good understanding of statistics and error analysis
- Scientific writing (manuscripts/reports) and presentation of findings
- SolidWorks or similar CAD
The typical hiring range for this position is $145,000 - $175,000$. General Fusion considers many factors when determining total compensation, including job-specific or highly specialized knowledge, skills and experience, proficiency, job location and internal equity.
