Full job description

We are an independent optometry clinic in the Kerrisdale neighborhood seeking for an optometric assistant to join our team. Our clinic focus on Myopia management and Vision therapy and our goal is to be the best team that will maximize patient's vision to their fullest potential.

Medical experience is not a must; training will be provided for the right candidate.

The right candidate should have the following characteristics:

  • Able to think quickly on their feet in order to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
  • Recognizes the importance of being meticulous and professional when managing patient electronic medical records (EMRs)
  • Able to show their care to our patients in a cheerful and positive attitude
  • Excellent telephone manner and customer service
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as individually
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin and/or Cantonese is a great asset but English is a MUST
  • Flexible with working Monday through Saturday shifts

What you will be responsible for:

  • Answer a high volume of calls and maintain a rapid response rate according to agreed-upon standards and training.
  • Take accurate information from calls received (i.e.: book appointments) where required and transfer information or calls with speed and efficiency.
  • Greet in office patients immediately in a courteous and friendly demeanour while building rapport with patients.
  • Provide direction and information as required to in office patients and collect required health information prior to eye exam.
  • Order and maintain inventory for contact lenses trials, revenue products & office supplies
  • Answer and maintain website inquiries for scheduling appointments and checking on orders, etc.
  • Process MSP billing and rejections, process and follow up with third-party
  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adhere to relevant health and safety procedures.

Salary is based on experience, and extended health benefits offered after 3 months of employment (if working full time hours).
