Full job description

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Office Assistant to join this solo office practice. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of this medical office by providing exceptional administrative support. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and proficiency in handling various office tasks, including managing patient records and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression of the office.
  • Manage physician's patient scheduling for office and hospital .
  • Manage front desk operations, including answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and handling patient inquiries.
  • Making telephone calls as requested by the physician.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Managing email correspondence from patients, healthcare professionals and educators.
  • Managing mail - checking mail box daily, mailing out letters, processing mail for courier service.
  • Basic transcription - printing consultation and progress reports, preparing letters requested by patients and as part of patient management.
  • Assist with the preparation of patient charts and documentation prior to appointments.
  • Process patient information, including insurance verification, completing office intake forms, signing appropriate consent forms and billing inquiries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area, exam rooms and waiting room.
  • Preparing monthly inventory so that office has supplies to run smoothly.
  • Support administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry as needed.
  • Managing referrals - sending out and tracking referrals to other healthcare providers, receiving and processing referrals for triaging by physician.
  • Processing and providing invoices for noninsured services and penalty payments such as missed appointments

Pay: From $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 45.0 per week
