Job Summary

The Department of Surgery is looking for a dependable, highly organized individual to join as the Surgery Postgraduate Education Administrator. The Surgery Postgraduate Education Administrator is accountable for providing administrative leadership to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Surgical Foundation (SF) Program. The Surgery Postgraduate Education Administrator is responsible for ensuring the SF program is meeting the required accreditation standards and provides administrative support to the SF Program Directors and Director of Education. Works collaboratively with the eight surgical specialties enrolled in the SF Program. The Administrator is accountable for the management of the fellowship program and provides administrative support to the Surgery Fellowship Director

Duties

Manage and coordinate the SF curriculum, delivery and evaluation

  • Book space and presenters for annual July introduction course (Boot Camp) and seminar series.
  • Manage evaluation and reporting process for all teaching sessions.
  • Arrange and attend SF Program Committee meetings and Competence Committee meetings.
  • Maintain and update curriculum map and accreditation management system. Assist in the organization of the Royal College accreditation site visit and review

Administer and coordinate the Fellowship Program

  • Organize and attend meetings of the Department of Surgery Fellowship Committee.
  • Organize Fellowship applications and provide comprehensive administrative support to the fellows throughout the application process ensuring all requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Provide Fellow evaluation support (with divisional fellowship directors).
  • Organize annual Fellowship Social.

Provide administrative support to the SF Program Directors, Fellowship Director, and Director of Surgical Education

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in education or business administration
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a related responsible position. Preference will be given to candidates with a clinical/academic environment background.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills; works well in team-based environment.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, muti-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-changing environment.
  • Excellent decision-making and judgment skills with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams) with the ability to quickly learn new academic software.

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
