For non-part-timers, the vacation is fairly standard though they don't automatically give you your vacation days after 3-months you still have to let them build up. Most companies (in my experience) front-load your vacation after your trial period. I also found that many full-time people were almost "scared" to take their vacation in case something was missed while they were away?

One of the best things about working at Loyalist is the food! The Loyalist Market sells food made by the students at a great price and most of the time it is great (they are students after all so it can be hit or miss sometimes). And the cafeteria which includes a pizza place, a noodle place and a Subway are amazing to have around for lunches.

Minimal raises happen periodically as per outlined in the collective agreement. This is true for faculty and support staff. Every once in a while you will notice a few cents or a dollar+ boost in the hourly rate. It is NOT salary - despite what most job postings and job descriptions say. It is very much a punch-in, punch-out mentality so the little boosts are nice.

It is almost impossible to teach part-time at Loyalist and have another job as they do not want to work around your schedule. And yet they rarely hire full-time teachers anymore. Most teachers are part-time making it hard to do prep, planning, marking or assist the students when you have to have another job. Extremely disheartening.

The job was hectic at times and other times were slow. It was always amazing because of the students and coworkers at the college!
