Full job description

About The Firm:
Our client is a well-established plaintiff-side litigation firm that has been doing this for over 40 years. This firm is recognized by Canadian Lawyer Magazine as one of Western Canada's top personal injury boutiques, with a track record in personal injury, medical malpractice, insurance disputes, class actions, and wills litigation. They provide legal representation to clients from all over BC as well as nationally and internationally.

This is not a firm with layers of bureaucracy, anonymous files, or a culture of keeping junior lawyers in the background. It is a team of circa 30 litigators spread across Vancouver, Surrey, Kelowna, and Vernon. The environment and size of this firm is a great place for junior associates to make a real impact, have direct client responsibility and to see their development taken seriously.

About The Opportunity:
If you have spent your early years at a national firm and found yourself doing good work that rarely felt like yours e.g. managing discovery, supporting seniors, feeling like you did not know the client - this role is a different opportunity.

My client firm is looking for a junior associate with 1+ years of experience who is ready to have their own files, their own clients, and their own voice in how matters are run. You will be working alongside experienced trial lawyers who are genuinely invested in developing the next generation.

Core Responsibilities:
Run your own litigation files from intake through resolution, with support from senior lawyers when you need it
Draft pleadings, applications, demand letters, and legal memoranda
Attend examinations for discovery, mediations, and chambers applications
Communicate directly with clients — you will know the people you are fighting for
Review and analyze complex medical and expert evidence
Appear in court on procedural matters and chambers applications as your experience builds
Contribute to complex and high-value files including medical malpractice and class actions alongside senior litigators

The Ideal Candidate:
1+ years of experience with a litigation background — personal injury or civil litigation experience preferred
Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia
Excellent academic background
Strong drafting and analytical skills
Genuine interest in plaintiff-side work
Good instincts with clients
A down-to-earth, team-first attitude

Application Process:
If you are interested in discussing this role in more detail on a confidential call, please apply - quoting job order number 05060-0013465388.

Salary:
Compensation details will be shared directly with applicants.
