Full job description

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our Skin Cancer Screening Clinic staff. This position requires expertise in basic patient care, charting, medical terminology, and various healthcare settings. A MINIMUM of 5 years of experience that MUST include at least some clinical experience in 2 of the following 6 areas: 1. Dermatology, 2. LTC, 3. Team Medicine, 4. Family Practice, 5. Surgery/PACU, or 6. Emergency Medicine.

Duties:
- Provide direct patient care in accordance with established care plans and protocols
- Assist with medical procedures and examinations
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Document patient information accurately and maintain up-to-date records
- Educate patients and their families on health management strategies
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families during challenging times

Skills:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory procedures, and equipment
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems such as Accuro
- Experience in providing patient care across various settings including acute care, senior care, assisted living, and home care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Compassion and empathy towards patients and their families

- Professionalism and the ability to work as part of a team is an absolute must.

- Dermatology background a definite asset. Online dermoscopy course must be completed within 3 months of start date. Cost will be reimbursed upon proof of completion.

Requirements:
- Valid registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in Ontario
- CPR certification
- Clear criminal background check

- Must have excellent command of the English language both verbal and written (will be assessed if selected for interview)
