Job Overview

Part-Time until dec 2026

Full time from january 2027

The Allergy Clinic is looking for a motivated and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist to join our team on a part-time basis, with the potential to transition into a contract position in January 2027 for the right candidate.

This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who is confident working independently, enjoys a dynamic clinical laboratory environment, and is committed to maintaining high standards of quality and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Managing and maintaining an efficient laboratory workflow

Performing laboratory testing and ensuring accurate and timely result reporting

Performing routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting when required

Managing and monitoring laboratory inventory and supplies

Participating in and managing proficiency testing programs

Communicating effectively with physicians, the Medical Director, and clinic staff

Reporting laboratory activities, quality issues, and proficiency testing results directly to the Medical Director and/or Clinic Manager

Writing and Following laboratory SOPs, quality control procedures, and safety requirements

Assisting with phlebotomy and specimen collection as needed

Phlebotomy Experience

Experience performing phlebotomy across all age groups, including pediatric and adult patients, is required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Technology or a related laboratory field

Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience

Strong understanding of laboratory workflow, quality assurance, and documentation

Experience with laboratory equipment maintenance

Experience with proficiency testing

Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions without constant supervision

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification

Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle are preferred

Position Details

Position: Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist

Schedule: Part-time initially

Potential transition: Contract position beginning January 2027, based on performance and mutual fit

Reporting to: Medical Director and/or Clinic Manager

Location: The Allergy Clinic
