We are on a mission to elevate today’s fertility care and deliver a better experience for one and all - both patients and employees alike. Our modern, thoughtfully designed clinics bring a new definition to what healthcare can look like in Canada. With our state-of-the-art IVF labs and in-house pharmacies, we offer the full range of fertility services.
Following the success of our two Toronto locations, we’re excited to expand to Vancouver — bringing our innovative, patient-first model of care to the West Coast.
As an organization, we are continuously challenging the status quo and bringing a more compassionate vision for the way care should be. We believe best-in-class care requires outstanding medicine and manner. That’s why we offer the latest fertility advancements and expertise, paired with a personalized, whole-person approach – all supported by state of the art equipment and a tech-enabled platform that makes accessing care easier than ever.
If you are looking to join a dynamic, passionate, and diverse team at the forefront of fertility care in Canada, let’s chat.
About the role
The Lab Director provides senior leadership for Twig’s laboratory operations across embryology, andrology, and serology. Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, this is a hands-on leadership role that combines team leadership, oversight of quality and compliance, and active participation at the bench.
Who we are looking for
- You are an experienced laboratory leader who sets the standard for quality, safety, and an inclusive, elevated care experience across a multidisciplinary team
- You build and develop high-performing teams, and you take pride in growing the people around you
- You hold yourself and your lab to the highest standards of clinical excellence, backed by strong quality and compliance judgment
- You can operate autonomously, make sound decisions under pressure, and adapt quickly when priorities shift
- You bring outstanding communication and critical thinking skills to align your team, collaborate across departments, and drive top performance
Your responsibilities
- Lead and develop the laboratory team, including staffing, training, and performance management
- Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations to support quality, safety, and efficiency
- Maintain laboratory quality systems and compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements
- Perform clinical laboratory procedures as needed
- Support continuous improvement and other initiatives as directed by the Chief Scientific Officer
- Help shape the role by identifying opportunities to drive efficiency and a better experience for our clinic and patients
Additional duties may be assigned based on the needs of the laboratory and the organization.
Your experience
- MSc or higher in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited educational institution
- A minimum of 10+ years experience in clinical embryology, including 3+ years in a supervisory role, and including some genetic testing experience
- Previous experience starting, managing, and running a laboratory
- CFAS embryologist certification (preferred)
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality systems and accreditation requirements
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems and Google Suite
- Willing to complete any certification examinations by accredited bodies within an appropriate time frame as required
- Comfortable delivering bad news or sharing sensitive information
- Committed to providing person-centered, LGBTQ inclusive, trauma-informed care
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Why Join Twig:
- Be part of a bold, compassionate team changing the fertility experience in Canada
- Work at the intersection of health, technology, and human connection
- Make meaningful impact every day by combining clinical excellence with empathy, innovation, and human connection
- Competitive compensation, benefits, and flexibility in a mission-driven environment
At Twig we prioritize exceptional care for our patients and employees alike. Our whole-person approach to care ensures that we provide our employees with an environment that supports both physical and mental well-being.
At Twig, we are committed to creating an environment where all of our employees feel included and valued. We believe that a diverse and inclusive organization enables us to make reproductive and fertility care better for everyone. We encourage applications from racialized people, Indigenous people, persons with disabilities, people from gender and sexually diverse communities, people with intersectional identities, as well as any others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas.
