How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Clinical Oxygen Assistant (COA) transports, delivers, and installs homecare equipment (including oxygen cylinders) to patients and institutions while maintaining safe operation of the company vehicle and providing outstanding customer service. The COA delivers quality patient care by educating patients on the proper use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the equipment. The CST will carry out all responsibilities in keeping with Air Liquide Home Healthcare Canada’s safety and quality practices.
  • Contributes to team effort by supporting other team members to satisfy both internal and external customers.

  • Complies with organizational vehicle policies and procedures, and highway rules and regulations. Ensures safe supply of gases to clients homes and transporting gases according to procedures and regulations.

  • Inspects vehicle before and after use; documents inspection. Maintains a clean vehicle and ensures it is stocked with necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), safety equipment, tools, and other supplies.

  • Meets client needs by delivering products according to schedule and as required.

  • Sets up homecare equipment at patients’ home, provides training to new clients and responds to requests from current clients. Provides client education on equipment function, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Performs technical checks and reviews safety instructions with clients. Maintains up-to-date documentation by completing appropriate records for technical visits including equipment exchanges, deliveries, and pick-up of equipment.

  • Ensures operation of medical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturers’ instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; in the event that the work required exceeds the qualifications or abilities of the CST, they should manage the downstream workflow, which may involve sending the equipment back to the manufacturer or internal service center, and handling the required documentation.

  • Performs warehouse duties in the branches they cover by stocking shelves with supplies, shipping and receiving of products, and equipment cleaning and disinfection of patient equipment.

  • Documents client care and services by completing clear, accurate and timely delivery records.

  • Maintains client confidentiality as per Air Liquide Healthcare policy, agreements in place, and local regulations.

  • Protects clients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.

  • Seeks to continuously improve the operation of the branch by understanding processes and workflow and participating in quality improvement activities.

  • Complies with applicable certification requirements and makes recommendations to management on needed actions.

  • Provides after hour service to clients by participating in branch on-call rotation.

  • Support RRT and other health professionals as appropriate with remote patient assessment via teleconsultation, video conferencing or telephone follow up

  • Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure the effective use of pr oduct and treatment.

  • Contributes to a safe working environment by participating in safety meetings and initiatives, working in a safe manner and encouraging others to do so, and reporting unsafe occurrences and/or practices.

  • Ensures correct loading of vehicle by identifying product requirements for the day/week, and unloading product or material in compliance with safety and legislative requirements.

  • Other duties as required.

Are you a MATCH?

  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Care Aid Certification considered an asset

  • College Diploma and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Strong written and oral communication skills (verbal and written) in English (or French if QC based position)

  • Basic computer / tablet skills

  • Knowledge of use and maintenance of respiratory home care equipment preferred; ability and willingness to learn and understand homecare equipment used by patients

  • Basic mechanical/repair skills

  • 2-3 years of consecutive recent driving/delivery experience

  • 2-3 years Customer service experience in a healthcare setting

  • Clean and valid driver’s abstract

Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualification and other job-related reasons. This is a union position with a wage of $31.01 per hour and opportunities for advancement.
