Full job description

The ArcGIS Technical Lead is responsible for leading the design, development, and support of GIS web and desktop solutions while serving as the primary technical interface with clients. The role drives requirements workshops, oversees AMS and ADS activities, and ensures high‑quality delivery across development, testing, deployment, and production support.

This is an on‑site role in Toronto (4 days per week) working closely with clients and project teams.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Lead client engagement, requirements workshops, and requirements documentation
Own and manage AMS and ADS activities for GIS web and desktop applications and related extensions
Lead and manage GIS development teams delivering enhancements and new capabilities
Perform project planning activities including scoping, scheduling, and budgeting
Design and implement GIS solutions and geodatabases across multiple formats
Design and develop custom GIS applications for both desktop and web
Conduct code reviews, enforce quality standards, and track quality metrics
Manage and support SIT, UAT, and production environments and deployments
Perform complex spatial and relational data analysis using ArcGIS tools and relational databases
Collaborate with development, support, infrastructure, and onsite teams to resolve issues
Prepare data reports, documentation, and maps
Identify and recommend improvements to project delivery, service quality, and platform stability
Mentor and train team members on GIS web and desktop technologies
Support and lead client deployments for projects and enhancements

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

10+ years of hands‑on GIS experience
Strong expertise with:
  • ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro
  • ArcGIS Portal and ArcGIS Server
  • GIS extensions and add‑ons
  • Relational databases
Proven experience leading GIS development and support teams
Strong client‑facing skills with experience managing SIT/UAT
Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
Ability to operate effectively in a client‑facing, on‑site role

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $115000–$165,000. This role is a existing vacancy.
