Full job description

We are a progressive boutique firm representing cyclists and vulnerable individuals looking for a legal assistant committed to using their experience and abilities in a meaningful way.

The Biking Lawyer LLP is a growing law firm with a demonstrated track record of not only seeking justice and compensation for individuals but societal change as well.

We are seeking a co-worker with drive, commitment, and passion for helping people in need within the Accident Benefits system.

  • Liaise with new clients to assist with AB applications and productions
  • Assist with productions and s.33 requests
  • Complete and finalize Books of Authorities, Medical Briefs, etc.
  • Liaise with clients
  • Assist with obtaining employment records and applying for IRB
  • Liaise with Accident Benefits Team Lead to ensure that AB files are being serviced appropriately
  • Filing for LAT disputes
  • Assisting counsel to prepare for written and/or oral LAT hearings
  • Regularly maintaining contact with clients and updating files
  • Recording notes, telephone calls and correspondence on the file
  • Filing and technical needs of the firm as directed
  • Attending at AB/LAT update seminars to ensure compliance with changes to law and Rules
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Familiar with motor vehicle forms, insurance policies, the statutory accident benefits schedule (SABS) and Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT) Rules to ensure compliance with relevant regulations
  • Communicating with client to obtain necessary information, answer inquiries, and explain claims process.
  • Assist with reminder calls to clients regarding Insurer Examinations and arranging transportation
  • Corresponding with clients, insurance adjusters and medical providers to gather information or clarification needed for claims processing

Tech savvy and well situated to navigate legal software (FileVine)

We are seeking someone to work in our Toronto office 5 days a week or an agreed upon split (some work from home days as agreed upon).

2-5 years experience preferred. Salary dependent on experience but ranging from 55,000- 65,000, 5 days a week with full benefits.
