What will you do?
As a Service Specialist II, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor supporting customers throughout the Calgary region. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, and optimization of fire alarm systems while ensuring exceptional customer service. You will work independently and collaboratively to help customers maintain safe, compliant, and reliable life safety systems while building strong long-term customer relationships.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service, Technical Support & System Maintenance
- Respond to customer service calls and provide timely resolution of technical issues.
- Complete annual, monthly, and preventative maintenance inspections of fire alarm systems.
- Test and verify system performance and readings to ensure optimal system operation.
- Diagnose system faults and perform repairs to restore functionality.
- Make recommendations for system improvements, upgrades, or changes that enhance reliability and performance.
- Represent Siemens professionally at customer sites at all times.
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships through responsive and customer-focused service.
Installation, Programming & Commissioning
- Perform equipment installation and panel programming as required.
- Participate in installation-to-service handovers on assigned projects.
- Support system testing, verification, and commissioning activities as needed.
Documentation & Record Management
- Complete and submit detailed service reports covering all aspects of assigned work and activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date site files and contract documentation.
- Update site databases and system records to ensure information remains current and accurate.
Team Collaboration & On-Call Support
- Work closely with internal teams to support customer satisfaction and quality assurance objectives.
- Participate in the 24-hour on-call rotation to provide emergency service support when required.
- Collaborate with project, service, and support teams to ensure successful customer outcomes.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all Siemens health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Ensure damaged or faulty equipment is returned with the appropriate documentation.
- Maintain company-issued tools and test equipment in good working condition, secure storage, and calibration status.
- Support compliance with applicable building, fire, and life safety codes and standards.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned by management.
Territory / location: this role supports the Calgary Alberta area
What will you need to succeed?
Education & Certifications:
- Minimum College Diploma in Electronics or a related technical field.
- Valid Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification.
Industry Experience:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems.
- Experience performing inspections, troubleshooting, testing, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Preferred: Experience with Siemens Fire Alarm systems.
Nice to Have / Assets:
- Perform configuration, testing and troubleshooting activities on all Fire Alarm systems, (Siemens, Simplex, Edwards, Mircom, etc.)
- Electrical field experience.
Technical Knowledge & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to systematically identify and resolve technical issues.
- Working knowledge of fire alarm systems, applicable fire and building codes, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of IP Networks, C•CURE systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, drawings, and system information.
Competencies:
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Additional Requirements:
- A valid and unrestricted G/Class 5 driver’s licence is required to participate in the Siemens Fleet Program and to operate a company vehicle for travel to customer sites within assigned region(s).
- Ability to participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation schedule.
