Job Title: Heavy Duty Mechanic- Underground

Job Type: Permanent Full-Time

Job Opportunity:

We are currently searching for a licensed heavy-duty mechanic to work a 2x2 week rotation at a remote mine site in Newfoundland Labrador.

This position is responsible for underground field service duties including but not limited to performing installations, calibrations, commissioning, service, and repair of various mechanical and electrical control systems. These duties may be performed in the field or in a workshop environment.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Trade certification, Journeyperson Red Seal preferred.

3-6 years experience repairing underground mining equipment required.

Proficient written and verbal communication skills along with knowledge of Microsoft

Strong team player.

Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair all issues with underground equipment.

Proven and motivated self-starter who can work with minimal supervision but can take direction.

Previous work experience should have demonstrated a strong mechanical aptitude and good work ethic.

Ontario Hard Rock Underground Service Type Common Core or other provincial equivalent preferred.

Requirements:

All successful candidates will be required to have a criminal background check.

Pre-employment medical.

Site approved access.

Permanent position.

Ability to travel.

Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

Respect in the Workplace

Perform running repairs, audits, PM and other activities on underground mobile equipment as required.

Inspect and diagnose components and equipment for service needs.

Providing parts information to customers and suggested stocking guides.

Other duties as assigned.

Participate in available service training.

Participate in all required Health & Safety Training.

Comply with the Health & Safety program and practices.

Comply with all company and owners site safety regulations and procedures.

Follow health and safety standards and report all unsafe acts or conditions.

Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment.

Train and mentor new employees and/or apprentices.
