At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Industrial Controller in Toronto, ON we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your financial and operational expertise in a dynamic and innovative industry. You’ll work alongside a collaborative, detail-oriented, and forward-thinking team.

You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring financial accuracy and operational efficiency across a variety of critical projects. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as Operations, Procurement, and Project Management), analyze financial data to support decision-making, and ensure compliance with financial and operational standards.

You’ll specifically take care of tracking production and installation costs and monitoring variances, but also support the financial substantiation required for cost-plus billing and ensure compliance with Alstom’s finance rules and contractual obligations.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Tracking production and installation costs for all Oncorr scopes

  • Monitoring variances versus baseline: labour, material, subcontracting, logistics

  • Validating operational inputs for monthly forecasts (cost-to-complete, margin, cash)

  • Ensuring proper cost allocation across work packages, cost centers, and customer invoices

  • Supporting the financial substantiation required for cost-plus billing

  • Monitoring incoming materials, warehouse movements, and consumption

  • Ensuring accurate BOM tracking to support open-book cost transparency

  • Tracking operational KPIs: productivity, installation progress, subcontractor performance, equipment utilization, rework/defects

  • Providing insights and analytics to improve operational efficiency

  • Ensuring transparency, traceability, and audit-ready documentation for all operational costs

  • Acting as the financial focal point for installation and production managers

  • Supporting the Project Finance Director with inputs for claims, variations, and contractual negotiations

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Business, or a related field

  • 5–10 years of experience in Industrial Controlling, Project Controlling, or Operational Finance

  • Experience in complex industrial, EPC, or transportation projects

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP

  • Knowledge of operational cost structures and manufacturing/installation environments

  • Familiarity with open-book or cost-plus projects (an asset)

  • Strong communication and influencing skills

  • Resilience and ability to manage multiple parallel operational streams

  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary operational teams

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

  • Work with cutting-edge financial and operational systems

  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and supportive colleagues

  • Contribute to innovative projects that shape the future of mobility

  • Utilise our flexible and inclusive working environment

  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries

  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning programs

  • Progress towards roles such as Senior Financial Controller or Project Finance Director

  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)
