Job Overview

Are you a strategic and results-driven merchandising professional with a passion for healthcare and retail? Wellwise is looking for a Category Manager to lead the development and execution of category strategies that drive sales, profitability, and an exceptional customer experience.In this role, you will manage a portfolio of healthcare categories, leveraging customer insights, market trends, and vendor partnerships to optimize product assortment, pricing, promotions, and inventory. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure Wellwise continues to provide innovative solutions that help Canadians live healthier, more independent lives.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy:

  • Develop and execute category plans that align with business objectives, delivering growth in sales, margin, and market share.

Vendor Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendor partners, negotiating pricing, promotional programs, product launches, and annual agreements.

Assortment Management:

  • Analyze customer needs, market trends, and product performance to optimize assortment, introduce new products, and manage product lifecycle decisions.

Pricing & Promotions:

  • Develop pricing strategies and promotional calendars that maximize category performance while remaining competitive within the market.

Financial Performance:

  • Monitor key performance indicators, including sales, gross margin, inventory turns, and profitability, and develop action plans to achieve business targets.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, eCommerce, and Store Operations to successfully execute category initiatives and product launches.

Market Intelligence:

  • Monitor industry trends, competitive activity, consumer insights, and emerging healthcare products to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of Category Management, Merchandising, Buying, or Product Management experience, preferably within retail, healthcare, pharmacy, or consumer products.

Analytical Skills:

  • Strong ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed business decisions that drive category performance.

Negotiation:

  • Demonstrated experience negotiating with vendors and managing supplier relationships.

Business Acumen:

  • Strong understanding of retail financial metrics, including sales, margin, inventory management, and promotional effectiveness.

Communication:

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners.

Organization:

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with merchandising, ERP, or category management systems is considered an asset.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in product management or category management within healthcare or related sectors.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with SaaS platforms, digital marketing strategies, and e-commerce operations.
  • Excellent analysis skills with proficiency in SQL or similar data analysis tools.
  • Effective presentation skills capable of conveying complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of software development processes and Agile methodologies is preferred.
  • Background in marketing, sales, or product development within the healthcare industry is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.

Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
