Our client is a mid-sized engineering firm headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, with an additional office located in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Specializing in engineering, design, project management, and procurement services, they deliver full-service EPCM solutions to clients across the Canadian and international oil and gas sectors.

Their focus and experience have been on pipelines and upstream facilities, now expanding their projects into new areas including lithium and plastic pyrolysis.

The Intermediate Designer/Drafter, under the direction of the Senior Designer and Drafting Manager, is required to perform and be accountable for managing and executing multiple projects in a dynamic work environment. They must be able to take on a leadership role to manage smaller well site tie-ins, pipelines developments and brown field retrofit projects independently yet be able to be a member of a design team in support of larger projects as necessary. Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D is an asset for this position.

Responsibilities:

Prepare drawing packages for the following (but not limited to):

• Oil batteries and compressor stations
• Sweet/sour oil and gas gathering systems
• Battery and compressor station expansions
• Water injection and water treatment facilities
• Refrigeration plants
• Gas blanketing and incineration flaring systems
• Coordinating multiple smaller projects to maintain cost and schedule expectations
• Prepare Line Lists, Valve Lists, Tie-In Lists and Bill of Materials
• Reviews drawings prepared by other drafters/designers for accuracy, completeness and compatibility of designs between disciplines
• Provide technical piping design work to develop project drawings to meet project deliverables and communicate such to the project/design team
• Ongoing and proactive communication with Drafting Manager regarding project status and deliverables
• Ensure that all projects conform to client specifications, codes and standards
• Proactively work with Document Control to maintain project issue dates
• Support HSE initiatives

Requirements:

• 5+ years’ experience work with Canadian operating facilities, fabrication shops and/or EPCM firms
• Prefer experience within conventional gas plants, well site, batteries, full-service terminal facilities
• Technical Diploma in Design/Drafting from an accredited post-secondary institution
• Must be proficient with the following design software: AutoCAD, Navisworks, AutoCAD Plant 3D (Plant 3D is considered a strong asset for this position) BlueBeam, Microsoft Office Software
• Familiarity with the development procedure of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), Plot Plans, General Arrangements and Isometrics
• Strong skills in drafting and design fundamentals
• Sound understanding of engineering design principles and design codes
• Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment while approaching job responsibilities in a positive manner
• Motivated self-starter who is growth orientated and willing to receive direction
• Strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively: written, spoken, and interpersonal
