Full job description

I am looking for a medical assistant/receptionist to support the clinic, delivering high standards of quality respectful and professional care. Education preferred and previous experience (minimum 2 years) within a medical clinic is required. This is a strictly 14 month contract position. I am unable to offer extensions. Please do not apply if that condition is unacceptable to you.

Candidate must be able to work well under pressure and require minimal supervision. Excellent time-management and problem-solving skills are essential as is a strong commitment to customer service and treating clients with courtesy and respect at every patient encounter. Knowledge of managing a clinical practice, office software and OHIP billings is an asset.

Duties include:

  • Coordinates patient care: Scheduling of patient appointments, checking in, gathering patient demographics, answering questions, providing post-appointment follow up, and monitoring the waiting room.
  • Accepts and processes calls from patients, doctor’s offices, labs, insurance companies, pharmacies, hospitals/urgent care centres and diagnostic centres. Processing incoming referrals/faxes/mail.
  • Assists physician in communicating with patients and other health professionals
  • Answers inquiries by phone and in person in a helpful, respectful, professional and efficient manner---good phone etiquette.
  • Maintains appointment schedule and manages rescheduling.
  • Schedules and manages OR bookings
  • Performs tasks (including filing testing, uploading faxes, and filing, and booking referrals) in support of patient care.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality.
  • Responsible for cleaning and sterilizing of medical equipment
  • Responsible for patient flow in and out of office and cleaning of exam rooms and washroom in keeping with current Covid-19 guidelines
  • Assists physician when requested.
  • Maintains office supplies including inventory, ordering and stocking
  • Performs all other related clinical, administrative tasks or special tasks as required.
  • Knowledge and management of OHIP billing and non OHIP billing, and also submission of insurance claims and reconciliations.
