Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Billing specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding and submission of claims, and maintaining efficient communication with insurance companies and patients. This role is essential in supporting the financial health of our practice while providing excellent service to our patients. Candidates with prior medical office experience and familiarity with electronic medical records will thrive in this position. A solid understanding of medical terminology is also highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit insurance claims accurately and timely using electronic medical records systems
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations
  • Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims to ensure proper resolution
  • Maintain detailed records of billing activities and patient accounts
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure correct coding based on medical documentation
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing statements and insurance issues
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards during all billing processes

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR systems) is highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is essential for accurate coding and billing
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required for managing multiple claims simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with insurance companies, providers, and patients
