Travel Medicine & Vaccination Centre (TMVC) is looking to hire a driven and enthusiastic Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Health Consultant to join our kind and friendly team at our Nanaimo location. If you believe you have what it takes to thrive in our travel clinics, we would love to hear from you!

This fantastic opportunity is a Permanent Part-time position 1-2 days per week, including one weekday evening (7pm) per week and one Saturday a month.

The successful applicant will be conscious that work hours can sometimes vary depending on how busy the clinic is.

TMVC is a privately owned and operated company with 12 clinic locations in BC that have operated for over 30 years. TMVC provides customers valuable travel health consultations, vaccinations, and other related medical services.

The Role:

  • RN Travel Health Consultants provide pre-travel medical risk assessment advice to prevent travel-acquired illness and disease.
  • Providing holistic assessment for intended travelers to determine the need for further health advice and care from a medical physician
  • Making recommendations and administering appropriate immunizations and prescription medications
  • Administer other routine or seasonal vaccinations and TB skin tests

The Ideal person:

  • Must have current practicing registration as a RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • BScN degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years related nursing experience. Public health nursing and/or travel medicine experience asset
  • BCCDC Immunization Certification or ability to successfully complete certification
  • BCCDC Tuberculosis Essential course and Tuberculosis Skin Testing course
  • Current CPR certification
  • ISTM Certification is a bonus

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of immunology, vaccines, and infectious diseases.
  • Working knowledge of immunization schedules and protocols
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to use problem-solving, critical thinking, and priority setting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and interdependently and make sound nursing practice decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills are required.

Pay: $45.00-$50.00 per hour

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Experience:

  • Public Health: 2 years (preferred)
  • immunizing: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • BCCNM License (required)
