Full job description

We are currently seeking an experienced, professional Medical Office Receptionist / Medical Office Administrator to join our busy family medicine practice on a maternity leave contract.

Our receptionist plays an important role in setting the tone for each patient's experience. We strive to provide compassionate, high-quality medical care in a professional, respectful, and patient-centred environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients in a professional and compassionate manner
  • Answer and manage a busy telephone line and respond to patient inquiries
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments
  • Manage patient records and documentation
  • Process referrals, requisitions, forms, prescription requests, and other administrative tasks
  • Perform accurate and timely OHIP billing
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to privacy requirements
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, allied health professionals, pharmacies, specialists, and other healthcare providers
  • Manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Perform general medical office and administrative duties as required

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous medical office experience is required
  • 2–3+ years of experience in a medical office, preferably family medicine
  • Experience with an EMR is mandatory; TELUS PS Suite experience is strongly preferred
  • Medical Office Administrator/Assistant certification is an asset
  • Experience with OHIP billing is strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a busy environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Professional, dependable, and patient-focused work ethic
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems quickly

Important

This is an experienced medical office position. Applicants must have previous medical reception/administrative experience, ideally in a family medicine setting. Please do not apply if you do not have relevant medical office experience.
