Job Description:

Position Title: Full-Time Outreach Support Worker
Reports to: Service Coordinator
Location: Kamloops, BC
Employment Type: Full-Time; 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Schedule:

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Friday: 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM
  • Schedule may change depending on the needs of the individual

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Outreach Support Worker to join our community team. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a genuine desire to support individuals facing various social and personal challenges.

This position provides 1:1 support to an individual with autism who may experience seizures. The successful candidate will work in the individual’s home (shared with their father) and in the community, supporting daily routines, life skills, and personal peri-care.

The individual enjoys outdoor walks, swimming, going to the Tournament Capital Centre (TCC), arts and crafts, reading stories, and engaging in community activities. We are looking for someone who is engaging, follows direction well, and communicates effectively.

Duties

  • Provide personalized support in the individual’s home and community
  • Assist with daily living activities including dressing, grooming, etc.
  • Support with peri care (e.g., changing pull-ups, brushing teeth)
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic environment through light housekeeping
  • Encourage participation in leisure activities such as exercise, swimming, and outings
  • Promote independence and teach life skills
  • Monitor and document health status, reporting changes as needed
  • Uphold confidentiality and respect the dignity of the individual at all times

Compensation

IMLKS offers competitive wages and benefits. Mileage is reimbursed upon submission. Training and development opportunities are provided to all employees.

Job Requirements

  • A valid Driver's License
  • A safe, reliable vehicle that can be used for work
  • Safe driving history
  • Valid First Aid Certificate (can be obtained within 2 weeks of employment)
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (processed within our office)
  • Medical clearance
  • TB test (to be completed within probationary period)
