Full job description

Administrator (Executive Director) – Faithstone Manor

Long-Term Care (Hamilton, ON)

The Organization: Shalom Manor & Gardens is a faith-based, non-profit organization that is home to 144 residents living in long-term care and 36 assisted living suites in Grimsby.

Faithstone Manor & Gardens will be the second community of Shalom. It will be located in Hamilton and is expected to open in Spring/Summer 2027. It will include 188 long-term care beds (Faithstone Manor), 72 assisted living suites (Faithstone Gardens), a robust Village Centre and a daycare to open in Spring/Summer 2028.

Our vision is to provide a Christ-centered journey in a loving community.

The Opportunity: This is a unique opportunity to lead the opening of a brand new long-term care home and transform vision into reality, through the shaping of culture, systems and resident experience from the very beginning. Working alongside the CEO, you will play a pivotal leadership role through the final stages of development, guiding the Home from construction to occupancy and establishing the foundation for a thriving community.

Over the next 12-16 months, your focus will include leading pre-opening activities, recruiting and supporting high-performing teams, establishing operational systems and processes, ensuring regulatory and licensing readiness, cultivating community and stakeholder relationships, and leading a phased resident admission strategy.

Once the Home achieves full occupancy, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Faithstone Manor (Hamilton), ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, operational effectiveness and a positive environment for residents, families, staff and volunteers.

This is a full-time permanent position with a start date in Summer 2026. Upon opening, the Administrator will be based full-time at the Hamilton home (1411 Upper Wellingstone Street). During the pre-opening and occupancy ramp-up phases, work will be shared between the Hamilton development site, our existing Grimsby home, and remote work, with the balance evolving as the project progresses toward opening.

As the Administrator, you will:

· Lead all pre-opening operational readiness activities, helping bring life to a new Christian long-term care community where residents can live with dignity, purpose and belonging

· Assist with the recruitment, onboarding and development of the leadership team and key staff, fostering a culture rooted in respect, service, stewardship and collaboration

· Prepare the Home for licensing, occupancy and regulatory compliance, ensuring systems, processes and practices reflect both excellence in care and faith-based values

· Lead the execution of a phased occupancy plan, ensuring the safe, efficient and resident-centered admission of every new community member

· Champion the integration of the organization’s Christian mission, vision and values into daily operations, decision-making, team development and resident life

· Provide overall operational leadership in accordance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, associated regulations and other applicable legislations

· Serve as the site’s designated lead for the Quality Improvement program, promoting a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and excellence in service

· Build meaningful relationships with residents, families, staff, volunteers, congregations, community partners and other stakeholders, serving as the Home’s ambassador for the Home’s mission and ministry

Who You Are: You bring-

· A bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field from a recognized university

· A minimum of 5 years of relevant health management experience in long-term care, with previous experience in policy writing and leading in unionized settings

· Completion of an approved program in long-term care administration that is a minimum of 100 hours in duration of instruction time, or completion within 12 months of being hired

· Ability to provide a vulnerable sector police check within the last 6 months, and proof of TB testing completed within the last 12 months

The Offer: This position includes-

· Salary range of $110,000-139,000, based on education and experience

· Benefits, including extended health care, dental care, vision and life insurance

· RRSP match

· Paid time off, including vacation, sick time and float days

Submit Your Interest: Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume and cover letter, outlining their qualifications and alignment with our mission.

We welcome and encourage applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.

We thank all applicants for their interest. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Applications will be reviewed upon receipt and the posting will remain open until the position is filled.
