Reporting to an Investigations Manager, the Private Investigator, Surveillance will be responsible for conducting thorough and detailed covert surveillance investigations both by vehicle and/or on foot. The successful candidate must share a passion for investigations and display an unwavering commitment to excellence. What You Will Do:


  • Offer timely and quality best-in-class experience and services to our clients and customers.
  • Respond to client requests with a quick, flexible, and operational approach that is based on sound strategy, and coordinated with Xpera’s policies and procedures.
  • Conduct investigations in a manner that makes strategic sense and that are coordinated with the client’s intent, seeking guidance from management as required.
  • Conduct assignments in a proper investigative sequence including pre-operation planning, assignment assessment, evidence collection, and reporting.
  • Monitor closely assignment timelines and budgets to ensure assignments are completed on time and within budget.
  • Produce accurate, detailed notes and reports in accordance with Xpera’s protocol and practices.
  • Obtain professional quality video and photographic documentation of subjects.
  • Obtain information or intelligence in a legal, ethical, and confidential manner as required.
  • Attend court or legal proceedings as required.
  • Maintain vehicle and equipment in good working conditions, suitable for work and functions.

What You Will Bring:


  • Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant work experience with preference given to candidates with a minimum of 2 years of field surveillance investigative experience.
  • Experience working in a client-focused environment.
  • Experience in law enforcement is an asset.
  • A valid Private Investigator License within the applicable province of employment.
  • A valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record.
  • Knowledge of all levels of the Canadian court system, criminal and civil code in Canada, insurance law, and privacy legislation is an asset.
  • An understanding of threat risk assessments and analytics.
  • Exceptional communication and written skills.
  • An ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • A strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially with Word and Excel.
  • An ability to work under pressure to meet demanding timelines while maintaining focus on the task at hand.
