Job purpose:

To ensure safe and reliable operations of plant preparing, processing and packaging machines by setting up machines, responding to maintenance calls, monitoring machines performance, identifying failures before they happen and carrying preventive maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

• Responsible for troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of food processing and packaging machines such as mixers, fillers, cappers, labelers, sleevers, pumps, secondary packaging machines and conveyors in accordance with mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings using measuring instruments and hand and power tools.
• Responsible for dismantling, disassembling, assembly, installing and commissioning of food processing and packaging machines.
• Responsible for operation, monitoring, and upkeep of utility machines like chillers, boilers, compressors, fans, blowers, chemical dosing system, ingredients storage silos and transfer systems.
• Troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, and assembly of pneumatic and hydraulic circuits according to the pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
• Reading engineering schematics and drawings to plan predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance tasks on production machines.
• Performing and reporting preventive maintenance procedures such as lubrication, greasing, oil change, condition monitoring, inspections, and overhauls on production and packaging machines on a regular basis.
• Performing power transmissions maintenance requiring repair and overhaul of gearboxes, bearings, seals, sprockets, pullies, couplings etc. and alignment of power transmission.
• Skilled level user of mechanical fabrication and welding tools like electric cutting and grinding tools, hydraulic press, drilling machine, lathe machine, oxyacetylene cutting and electric welding machine.
• Licensed operator of forklift truck and scissor lift, and skilled user of other hoisting and lifting devices such as hydraulic jacks and chain blocks.
• Preparing spare parts lists using OEM drawings and manuals and coordinating with maintenance planner for spare parts ordering to maintain engineering inventory at optimal level.
• Responding promptly to all emergency maintenance requests.
• Complying with Health and Safety, Food Safety, GMP, CFIA and other applicable regulatory codes and procedures.
• Communicating and working professionally in a teamwork environment with other maintenance personnels and personnels of other departments
• Other duties assigned by the reliability supervisor as per business needs.
