Intermediate to Senior Litigation Paralegal – Maternity Leave Contract

Location: Vancouver, BC
Employment Type: Full-Time | Contract (12–15 Months)
Salary: $80,000 – $95,000

Our client, a well-established full-service litigation law firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join their team on a 12–15 month maternity leave contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal with strong civil litigation experience who is comfortable working across a variety of matters and can hit the ground running in a busy practice.

The successful candidate will support a mix of estate litigation and general civil litigation matters, including both plaintiff and defence work. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to different files and practice areas.

The Role

  • Supporting lawyers on a variety of estate and general civil litigation matters, including both plaintiff and defence work.
  • Reviewing, organizing, and managing complex file materials.
  • Preparing and assisting with initial pleadings, including Responses, Lists of Documents, Applications, Affidavits, and related materials.
  • Drafting and maintaining file summaries, chronologies, and other litigation materials.
  • Reviewing and analyzing wills, trusts, financial records, and other key documents as required.
  • Tracking deadlines, limitation periods, and procedural requirements to ensure files remain on track.
  • Assisting with discovery, examinations for discovery, mediations, and trial preparation.
  • Providing day-to-day support to lawyers and working collaboratively with the broader litigation team.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an accredited Paralegal program or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Several years of civil litigation experience, with experience in estate litigation considered an asset.
  • Experience working on both plaintiff and defence matters is an asset.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and follow instructions while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • Flexible and accommodating approach, with the ability to learn quickly and adapt to different files and priorities.
  • A client-centred approach and commitment to providing high-quality service.

Compensation and Perks
