In Valuations you will combine technical knowledge with real-life practical experience to provide advisory services as they pertain to value and put forward valuations of businesses, business interests, and/or intangible assets.
Working as part of the team you will acquire the skills and expertise to meet the challenging dynamics of business valuation across a breadth of contexts, be it financial reporting, tax compliance, litigation support, shareholder negotiations, internal planning, financial modeling…and the list goes on.
You will also get exposure to projects involving businesses of varying sizes and operating in a diverse array of industries, allowing you to gain valuable experience while building your professional network, business acumen and working toward the prestigious Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designation.
Our valuation approach is rigorous. We invest the time required to understand our client, the industry and the subject business. We combine our knowledge of valuation principles and techniques with our practical understanding of capital markets. We excel when faced with complex and unusual issues. Our conclusions are well supported, and our reports are clear and concise.
What you will do:
- Assist in performing valuation assignments in support of transactions, financial reporting, and other services across a diverse range of industries
- Manage multiple engagements and successfully complete client deliverables on a timely basis
- Review business plans, financial statements, agreements, board packages, financial models, etc.
- Prepare financial models, apply valuation methodologies in a meaningful way and perform financial analyses utilizing tools such as Bloomberg and Capital IQ
- Conduct industry and economic research
- Prepare, review and edit reports, analyses and memorandums, with a persistent view of improvement in quality and use of the latest available tools
- Enjoy a positive team atmosphere in which we are constantly learning from each other and sharing experiences and ideas
- CPA qualification or on track to achieve with 3+ years of relevant post-grad work experience
- Creative problem-solver with strong attention to detail and interest in continuous learning
- Enrolled, or planning to enroll in the CBV program, with a view and keen interest to obtain the CBV designation
- Technical knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and/or other accounting standards and fair value issues arising therein
- A self-starter who thrives working in a dynamic environment, where no two projects are the same
- Ability to quickly build effective working relationships and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent work ethic and dedication to meeting deliverable timelines
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and KPMG internal contacts in a professional manner
