Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Lead – Biosolids to join our Water & Wastewater team in Ontario. This is a new and unique opportunity to step into a lead role delivering high-profile municipal wastewater and biosolids infrastructure projects that support the growth and environmental stewardship of communities across Ontario. This opportunity can be based out of any of AECOM's Ontario offices.
With your extensive experience in municipal wastewater and solids treatment, you bring strong technical expertise in biosolids process evaluation, design, equipment integration, project delivery, and commissioning. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, partner with clients and regulators, and work alongside AECOM’s local and national wastewater specialists to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions.
The work will include:
- Lead AECOM biosolids design on key projects.
- Supports and coordinates engineering activities in biosolids management, sludge treatment, residuals treatment, and bioresources processing.
- Mentoring and guiding staff and project managers on technical solutions in biosolids technology on projects.
- Recognized expert in technical leadership within their domain or specialty area, serving as the primary technical leader for their business area.
- Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs and applications to ensure AECOM remains a leader in emerging technologies.
- Uses creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving technical problems.
- Provides wastewater industry and biosolids-related technical leadership within and outside of AECOM.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BS in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, and 10+ years of demonstrated experience in wastewater treatment.
- Professional Engineers License with PEO or ability to transfer within 6 months.
- Experience preparing process design criteria for biosolids treatment.
- Extensive experience in biosolids treatment for municipal wastewater treatment plant expansion and upgrade design and construction projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline) with 20+ years of progressive experience in biosolids technology.
- Experience leading the biosolids treatment component of municipal wastewater projects.
- Deep technical expertise in the development and application of biosolids treatment solutions, including:
- Municipal water and wastewater facility operations, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Advanced anaerobic digestion processes.
- Sludge thickening and dewatering systems.
- Thermal treatment and incineration technologies.
- Biosolids drying and energy recovery solutions.
- Gasification and emerging biosolids processing technologies.
