Job Summary
Omineca is hiring skilled and detail-oriented Red Seal Welders and Millwrights to join our field team for shutdowns and projects in BC and Alberta.

Candidates should possess a strong understanding of welding techniques and industrial equipment maintenance. At Omineca, top performers are high-energy, well-rounded professionals capable of executing multiple aspects of industrial construction and maintenance work.

This role requires proficiency in welding, mechanical aptitude, the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, as well as a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in all work performed. Previous experience working in sawmills, pulp mills, and/or mining operations is required.

Duties

• Travel to customer worksites for a variety of industrial projects including shutdowns, industrial construction, mill and mine maintenance.
• Perform stick welding to remove, install, and repair heavy equipment and structures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine specifications for each project.
• Assemble and erect industrial machinery, material handling equipment, and structural packages.
• Install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
• Perform optimization, commissioning, and start-up of mechanical installations ensuring equipment and machine centres are operating at maximum efficiency.
• Trouble shoot, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on machinery to ensure optimal performance.
• Safely operate mobile equipment including forklifts, telehandlers, and elevated work platforms.
• Working at heights and in safety-sensitive environments.
• Rigging and hoisting.
• Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition, performing routine maintenance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality standards.
• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client needs and concerns effectively.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 5 years of work experience in heavy industrial construction projects.
• Red Seal Certification in Welding or Industrial Mechanics is preferred.
• 4th year apprentices and B-ticket welders without their IP will be considered and are invited to apply.
• Other ticketed tradespeople (e.g. Metal Fabricators) with industrial field experience will be considered and are invited to apply.
• CWB certification for SMAW (all positions) is required for Welders.
• Proficiency in reading schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience with industrial construction and maintenance practices is required.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong customer service skills.
• The following training and certifications are considered an asset: Forklift Operator, Telehandler Operator, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Basic Rigging, Mobile Elevated Work Platform Operator, WHMIS.

• Must have personal tools and equipment appropriate to your trade.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• Must be able to travel to remote worksite.
