PERMANENT FULL-TIME DAY SHIFT

Company Overview

Burlington Manufacturing SP Inc. is a sister company of Safety Power Inc., a leading supplier to the data centre industry. Our equipment removes nitrogen oxides, particulates and other harmful emissions most commonly for diesel engines used for backup power; end users of our systems include Amazon, Google and Microsoft.

Role Overview

This position is responsible for operating an automated laser welding production line that converts stainless steel coil material into formed and laser welded cylindrical components. The successful candidate will be involved in machine setup, coil loading, material feeding, production monitoring, quality inspection, and safe material handling throughout the manufacturing process.

The ideal candidate has experience working with automated production equipment, overhead cranes, coil-fed machinery, and manufacturing processes involving sheet metal forming or welding operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate an automated laser welding production line
  • Load stainless steel coils onto decoiler systems using overhead cranes and lifting devices
  • Feed material through straightening and cut-to-length systems
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust settings as required to maintain quality and production targets Oversee automated rolling and laser welding operations throughout the production cycle
  • Inspect finished components to ensure weld quality and dimensional accuracy
  • Safely offload completed parts and transfer materials throughout the production area
  • Perform routine equipment checks, cleaning, and preventative maintenance
  • Follow production documentation and standardized work instructions
  • Maintain safe operating practices and follow all company safety procedures
  • Work closely with production and quality teams to support manufacturing objectives
  • Assist with additional production duties as required

Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum high school education (OSSD) or equivalent experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience operating automated manufacturing or production equipment preferred
  • 5 to 10 years of experience with coil-fed machinery, press equipment, roll forming equipment, or automated production lines considered an asset
  • Must be familiar with overhead cranes, lifting devices, and safe material handling practice
  • Experience loading and handling steel coils considered an asset
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability required
  • Experience working in stainless steel or sheet metal manufacturing environments preferred
  • Familiarity with metric and imperial measurements
  • Forklift experience considered an asset
  • Ability to follow production documentation and standardized work instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills

Job Demands & Working Conditions

  • Production/manufacturing environment setting, standing/walking, in addition to sitting throughout shift.
  • Effectively perform in a fast-paced environment, and sometimes high-stress situations.
  • Required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and handle materials throughout the shift, including occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to moderate to loud noise and vibration levels.
  • Frequent periods of mental and visual concentration during computer work and analyses.
  • Required to wear PPE (safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs are required).
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment, moderate noise levels, and standard industrial conditions. Appropriate PPE is provided and required.
