Work Location Note: This is a site-based, camp role requiring full participation in a rotational schedule and compliance with all site safety and operational requirements.

Position Overview

1911 Gold Corporation is seeking a safety-focused and detail-oriented Metallurgical Technician to support metallurgical, laboratory, and process plant activities at the True North Mine. This role is responsible for collecting and preparing samples, conducting routine metallurgical testing, monitoring plant performance, and maintaining accurate production data to support operational decision-making.

Working closely with Metallurgists, Mill Operations, Laboratory personnel, Maintenance, and Technical Services teams, the Metallurgical Technician plays a key role in process monitoring, troubleshooting, metallurgical accounting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, the successful candidate will contribute to maximizing plant performance while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Metallurgical Testing & Laboratory Operations

  • Conduct routine metallurgical and laboratory tests, including grind checks, particle size analysis, flotation tests, moisture testing, density checks, leach tests, and carbon analysis.
  • Collect, prepare, and process samples in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Participate in metallurgical sampling, analysis, testing, and metallurgical accounting to support process evaluations.
  • Operate, clean, inspect, and maintain laboratory and sampling equipment.
  • Report equipment deficiencies and assist with calibration and preventative maintenance activities.

Process Monitoring & Plant Support

  • Monitor plant performance through routine inspections, sampling, and data collection.
  • Investigate plant performance deviations by responding to alarms and verifying field conditions.
  • Perform grinding mill liner inspections and measurements as required.
  • Assist Mill Operators with circuit inspections and collection of key operating data and process measurements.
  • Support refinery activities as required.

Process Improvement & Reporting

  • Assist with reagent optimization initiatives, monthly reagent inventory counts, and consumption reporting.
  • Prepare, validate, and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly metallurgical production reports.
  • Support metallurgists with plant surveys, sampling campaigns, metallurgical test programs, troubleshooting, and process optimization projects.
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to supervisors and technical personnel.
  • Assist with coordination of vendors, consultants, and contractors when required.

Safety & Collaboration

  • Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and security policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify workplace hazards and actively contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with Metallurgists, Mill Operations, Maintenance, Laboratory personnel, and Technical Services teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of mill operations.

Required Experience & Skill Set

  • Bachelor's Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Metallurgical Technology, Chemical Technology, Mineral Processing, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in mineral processing, metallurgical laboratory work, or a related industrial environment preferred.
  • Experience working in a metallurgical laboratory, assay laboratory, mineral processing facility, or mining operation is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory sampling techniques and metallurgical testing procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and data management skills.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Job Conditions & Work Environment

  • Ability to work a 14 Days On / 14 Days Off rotational schedule, including days and nights.
  • Comfortable working in both laboratory and active industrial processing plant environments.
  • Ability to safely perform repetitive tasks and handle laboratory samples and equipment.
  • Physically capable of walking throughout an operational processing facility and working around industrial equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
