Position Summary: The Compliance, AML & Privacy Manager is an integral member of the Company’s Compliance, Privacy, Vendor Due Diligence, Vendor Management, and Anti-Money Laundering ("AML") programs. The Manager works closely with business units across the organization to support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies and procedures.

The Manager is responsible for leading or assisting with the planning, development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the Company’s privacy and compliance programs, including compliance with evolving privacy legislation, AML/ATF requirements, and regulatory expectations. The Manager monitors legislative and regulatory developments, assesses potential impacts to the business, and works with stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain appropriate controls and processes.

The Manager leads or supports the identification, assessment, and remediation of compliance and privacy risks, including coordinating corrective action plans, tracking remediation activities, and reporting on progress to management. The role is also solely responsible for compliance monitoring, risk assessments, regulatory reporting, policy development, employee training, and governance initiatives.

In addition, the Manager supports the operation of the Company’s Privacy and Records Management Programs to help ensure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and internal requirements, and leads or assists with privacy incident management, regulatory inquiries, audits, and related compliance projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist business units to ensure that their operations comply with applicable laws, regulations and current P&Ps.
  • Conduct and/or oversee compliance monitoring and testing. Support governance initiatives including committee reporting, policy governance, regulatory reporting, management reporting and enterprise compliance governance frameworks.
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments and rate the risks applicable to the business unit.
  • Third party risk management - Oversee third-party risk management activities, including vendor due diligence, periodic reassessments, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Manage issues and remediation activities related to existing, new or revised laws and regulations, internal audits, and business unit identified issues.
  • Research federal and provincial laws specific to auto finance, including credit, origination, servicing, collections, remarketing and repossession. Responsible for making recommendations to operations management regarding process changes necessary to support regulatory changes and implementing projects.
  • Draft and update compliance and privacy policies and procedures.
  • Develop and deploy compliance and privacy training materials.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years’ progressive compliance, privacy and anti-money laundering experience in the financial services industry, automotive finance preferred

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Professional degree in law, business, finance, accounting, public policy, risk management, governance, privacy or a related discipline is required.
  • Licensed lawyer status is not required.
  • Candidate must possess: o at least one recognized compliance or AML designation (e.g., CAMS, CFCS, CRCM, CCP or equivalent); and o at least one recognized privacy designation (e.g., CIPP/C, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM or equivalent).
  • Candidates lacking one of the required designations must obtain it within 12 months of hire as a condition of continued employment.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial laws and regulations governing consumer/auto finance, anti-money laundering and privacy.
  • Understanding of privacy and data protection requirements, with experience assessing privacy risks and supporting compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations.
  • Experience with AML compliance programs, including risk assessments, KYC/CDD procedures, enhanced due diligence, sanctions compliance, and regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Ability to interpret global compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements and effectively localize, implement, and maintain them within the Canadian regulatory and business environment.
  • Knowledge of indirect credit operational structures, processes, systems and technology.
  • Ability to partner with business units to ensure the successful remediation of compliance and privacy remediation items. · Ability to operate and execute at a high level with little to no oversight on major initiatives.
  • Skilled in development of policies, procedures and training materials including being the primary administrator of a policy and procedure management system.
  • Skilled in vendor management and vendor due diligence at initial on-boarding and on an ongoing basis, including being the primary administrator of a policy and vendor risk management system.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills; ability to interface with team members, outside legal counsel and business groups at all levels within the organization.
  • Assist with legal research and contract review and drafting from time to time.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and deliver quality results in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage, mentor and provide oversight to a paralegal.
  • Possess a proactive, motivated and enthusiastic attitude towards accomplishing task[Location Update] Effective June 2027, Hyundai Capital Canada’s head office will be relocated from downtown Toronto to the Airport Corporate Centre in Mississauga.
