Full job description
Lake Country Co-op invites applications for the position of full-time Assistant Team Leader onsite at our Convenience Store/Gas Bar in Nipawin, Saskatchewan. If you are dedicated to delivering an outstanding customer experience, have a proven track record in sales, and are talented at working both independently and as the leader of a highly motivated team then Lake Country Co-op is looking for you. This position will supervise Team Members, maintain inventory and champion Asset Protection and Safety Management at the Nipawin Convenience Store and Gas Bar encompassing sales of approximately $9.3 million.

- Supervise team members to maintain efficient operations and high customer service standards.
- Support and guide daily retail operations, including merchandising execution, inventory management, and team coordination.
- Monitor sales, labour costs, and store performance.
- Support hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions when required.
- Support team development through coaching, training, and recognition to enhance accountability and customer service.
- Administer cash management, deposits, daily reporting, and Point-Of-Sale System operations.
- Implement promotions, upselling strategies, and seasonal product displays to drive revenue.
- Conduct inventory counts, audits, and loss prevention procedures.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally, ensuring elevated levels of satisfaction and long-term loyalty.
- Respond to emergencies, staffing shortages, or operational issues as needed.
- Become familiar with and adhere to Lake Country Co-op policies such as selling of age restricted items and all government regulations relating to tobacco, lottery, and fireworks.
- Champion and ensure compliance with all safety, asset protection, and operational policies and procedures.
- Perform minor repairs to assets as required.
- Perform all other duties as required.
Who You Will Work With: Reporting to the Nipawin Convenience Store/Gas Bar Team Leader, you will be a key participant in initiating, developing, and executing plans and policies to ensure continued growth in sales, service, employee satisfaction, and customer experience. You will help lead a fun and passionate team to cultivate a culture of collaboration.
You are looking for a career in Retail Store Operations and Customer Service and meets the following:
- 2 years of Retail Convenience Store management experience including Convenience Store operations, knowledge of pumps, fuel and compliance in a full-service environment.
- Co-operative Retailing System experience and post-secondary education in a business-related field are assets.
- Creative, self-reliant, goal oriented, and can set and adjust priorities in an ever-changing retail environment.
- Possess experience in the areas of member relations, selling, health and safety, ordering, receiving, merchandising, asset maintenance.
- Strong understanding of personnel policies, practices, and procedures.
- Elevated level of integrity and accountability.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- Able to plan and organize your own work and that of others, supervise others, and delegate to others.
- Well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.
- Tech savvy with a good understanding of retail technology.
- Customer focused and have the ability to work in a fast paced, guest facing environment.
- Available for day travel and some overnight travel to attend seminars, meetings, training programs for other operational purposes.
- Fulfill the physical job requirements, standing, working outside and inside, lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Flexible work schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license is preferred.
