From exploring the Rockies to discovering the best spots in Vancouver, we turn travel dreams into reality.Discover Canada Student Adventures (DCSA), powered by Discover Canada Tours, is a full-service travel management company specializing in student and youth travel and activity programs. We are a one-stop-shop for custom student travel, field trips, ski programs, band trips, camps, activities, and more. Offering a diverse range of options to students, teachers, and organizers, we focus on the safety of students while providing an environment that facilitates learning, expands horizons, and encourages personal growth.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Reporting to the DCSA Division Lead and Operations Manager, the Activity Leaders are responsible for delivering exceptional social activities, excursions, and student experiences throughout Victoria and surrounding areas.As the primary on-the-ground representative of DCSA, you will lead local events, promote Discover Canada products, engage with international students, and ensure every participant enjoys a safe, well-organized, and memorable experience.This role is ideal for someone who thrives in social environments, enjoys meeting people from around the world, and is confident leading groups while representing the Discover Canada brand.Key responsibilities are as follows:Activity & Event Leadership

  • Lead and facilitate scheduled social activities, day trips, special events, and custom group experiences throughout Victoria and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure activities begin and finish on schedule.
  • Deliver engaging, high-energy experiences that encourage participation.
  • Build positive relationships with students, schools, venues, and activity partners.
  • Represent Discover Canada Tours professionally while creating safe, fun, and memorable experiences for all participants.

Event Hosting & Public Speaking

  • Act as the Master of Ceremonies (MC) during events.
  • Make announcements using microphones and PA systems when required.
  • Lead games, icebreakers, contests, and prize giveaways.
  • Create an energetic, welcoming atmosphere that encourages participation.
  • Confidently manage groups of varying sizes.

Operations & Guest Safety

  • Coordinate event setup and teardown.
  • Monitor attendance and participant wellbeing.
  • Follow company safety procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents and communicate operational concerns to management.
  • Ensure activities operate safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Sales & Promotions

  • Assist with school presentations, orientation events, and promotional activities.
  • Promote Discover Canada day tours, multi-day adventures, social events, and special experiences.
  • Process bookings using company reservation systems.
  • Encourage repeat bookings and meet individual sales expectations.
  • Represent the company at promotional and recruitment events as required.

Customer Service

  • Deliver exceptional customer service before, during, and after activities.
  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for guests from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Collect guest feedback and encourage positive online reviews.

Administration

  • Complete attendance sheets and activity reports.
  • Submit incident reports when required.
  • Maintain accurate booking and sales records.
  • Care for company equipment and promotional materials.

Other Duties

  • Support additional operational projects as assigned.
  • Assist with Discover Canada Tours events throughout British Columbia when required.

Qualifications:

Requirements

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Post-secondary education in Tourism, Hospitality, Recreation, Event Management, Business or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Previous experience in customer service, tourism, hospitality, recreation, event leadership, or sales is an advantage.
  • Strong public speaking and interpersonal communication skills. Outgoing personality
  • Comfortable speaking to groups using microphones and presentation equipment.
  • Occupational First Aid with CPR-C (or willingness to obtain before employment).
  • Ability to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mobile booking or reservation systems.

Assets

  • Knowledge of Victoria and Vancouver Island attractions.
  • Additional language skills.
  • Experience working with international students.
  • Tourism or hospitality sales experience.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.

Physical Requirements:

The successful candidate must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 25 lbs (11 kg).

  • Travel throughout Victoria and surrounding areas.
  • Assist with transporting and setting up event equipment.
