Job Title: Sr. Electronics Developer

The Company has extensive IP and designs, develops and manufactures proprietary lithium-ion batteries and battery systems for energy storage and heavy-duty electric vehicles based on its Infinity Battery Technology Platform. As we continue to grow and expand our product offerings, we are seeking a talented Senior Electrical Developer to join our team.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electronics Developer to join our team focused on battery module design. As a Senior Electronics Developer, you will play a critical role in leading the design, development, and optimization of battery modules for various applications, ensuring high performance, reliability, and safety. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including embedded firmware developers, mechanical developers, production engineers, and quality analysts to deliver innovative solutions in the rapidly evolving field of battery technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electronics design and development of the Battery Management System (BMS) and supporting electricals from concept to production, considering factors such as hardware robustness, fail-safe capabilities, platform development, cost optimization, procurement flexibility, serviceability and manufacturability.
  • Conduct detailed analysis and simulations to evaluate the design performance, identify potential issues, and optimize designs for efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with mechanical developers and firmware developers to integrate mechanical and embedded firmware components within battery modules, ensuring seamless functionality and optimal performance.
  • Define and execute testing plans to validate design concepts, assess performance under various conditions, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the design process, reduce costs, and increase efficiency in battery module development.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to all the members of the electrical development team, fostering a culture of openness, innovation and excellence.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and advancements in battery technology, materials, and manufacturing processes, incorporating relevant findings into design strategies and development plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or related field; Masters’ degree preferred; P.Eng. preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in circuit design and development, preferably with a focus on battery systems or related technologies.
  • Proficiency in a range of EDA and CAD software tools (e.g., OrCAD, Altium, Allegro etc.)
  • Expertise in analog and digital design including power supply design, design of embedded circuits with microcontrollers, analog sensing and digital communications interfaces.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) methodologies, preferably in the automotive or energy storage industry.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to battery design and safety (e.g., UN, IEC, UL).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively articulate and convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools like JIRA and Confluence is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Six Sigma, Lean, or other quality certifications are a plus.
