About Harvest Manitoba
Harvest Manitoba (“Harvest”) is a charitable organization dedicated to nourishing our communities and our sense of community so that no Manitoban goes hungry. We collect and share 13 million pounds of food every year, which is sorted and packed and distributed to Manitobans through our Community Food Network of more than 380 food banks and agencies in Winnipeg, rural, northern and First Nations communities. Right now, we feed 108,000 Manitobans every month; 49% are children. Our Food Distribution Centre, which includes our Community Support Centre and Warehouse, is in our Winnipeg headquarters.

Position Summary
The Manager of Indigenous Partnership & Projects plays a key leadership role at Harvest Manitoba, one that shapes how we walk alongside Indigenous communities in a spirit of partnership, respect, and shared purpose. As Manager of Indigenous Partnership & Projects, you will be the bridge between Harvest Manitoba and Indigenous peoples, communities, and organizations across Manitoba.
The Manager builds and nurtures partnerships, including stewarding the relationships with Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre and the Asichikan site, while fostering opportunities for new community‑driven initiatives. They advise on culturally appropriate food purchasing guided by community values and represent Harvest on external committees and networks to advance shared priorities.
The role also coordinates board and leadership retreats and supports staff learning and development to strengthen cultural awareness and inclusive practice across Harvest.
Key Responsibilities
1. Indigenous Partnership & Community Relations
- Build and sustain meaningful, trust-based relationships with Indigenous organizations, leaders, Elders, knowledge keepers, and communities across Manitoba.
- Steward ongoing partnerships with the Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre and the Asichikan site, support new program development and exploring new collaborative opportunities.
- Develop relationships with Indigenous food producers, harvesters, and knowledge keepers who support traditional food and nutrition practices.
- Maintain and grow Harvest Manitoba's network of Indigenous-led organizations and First Nations within the Community Food Network.
2. Reconciliation Strategy & Organizational Leadership
- Establish and facilitate an Indigenous Working Group to guide Harvest Manitoba's reconciliation journey.
- Advise senior leadership and the board on Indigenous relations, cultural protocols, community priorities, and reconciliation strategy.
- Lead and coordinate reconciliation projects, ensuring Indigenous perspectives are integrated across Harvest Manitoba's operations, programs, and policies.
- Monitor emerging issues, news, and community developments relevant to Indigenous food security and provide timely counsel to the Leadership Team.
- Collaborate with internal teams on Indigenous-focused research, policy development, and advocacy.
3. Project, Budget, and Staff Management
- Manage projects, budgets, and staff as required to ensure the successful implementation and long-term sustainability of programs and initiatives.
- Develop and lead programs tailored to the specific food needs of First Nations and Northern communities, including planning, delivery, and grant administration.
- Support community partners serving Indigenous communities to deepen culturally responsive practices.
- Contribute as a member of the Harvest Manitoba CREW, supporting organizational operations and ensuring day today needs are met.
4. Education, Training & Cultural Safety
- Design and deliver reconciliation education and cultural safety training for Harvest's board, leadership, and staff.
- Guide the organization through ongoing reconciliation efforts by sharing resources, facilitating learning, and creating opportunities to engage with traditional knowledge.
- Coordinate board and leadership retreats, provide education and training opportunities.
- Support a culture of continuous learning and inclusive practice across Harvest.
5. Operations & Information Management
- Maintain an accurate database of Indigenous-led organizations, First Nations, and partner agencies to guide communications and engagement.
- Represent Harvest Manitoba on external committees and networks to advance shared priorities and elevate Indigenous voices.
- Contribute as an active member of the Harvest Manitoba CREW, supporting day-to-day organizational operations.
6. Other Duties as Assigned
Education and Experience
- Post‑secondary education in relevant social science, humanities, or health discipline (preferred).
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Planner.
- experience developing and managing projects in a collaborative team setting.
- Knowledge of food banking, food security, and poverty-related issues (an asset).
- Knowledge of one or more Indigenous languages spoken in Manitoba (an asset).
- Skilled in using online platforms to research and gather information from a variety of sources.
