PCM Work Program Manager - Capital Projects

What you'll do
The PCM Capital Project Delivery team is growing and manages all the Distribution (Lines) Capital across the province. Our
projects are initiated by our asset planning team or by our large Customers. Our team is made up of a diverse group of 50+
professional Project and Program Managers. We carry 400+ projects worth $1.1B and deliver $250M annually. Our projects
are delivered efficiently on a 2–3-year life cycle across the province year-round.
You’ll be involved in growth or sustainment projects to increase capacity or reliability and safety. You’ll also handle large
and complex Major Customer projects. You’ll manage energy-based Distribution Independent Power Producers projects
and End of Life, MoTI Relocations, Transmission Line Relocations, Shared Assets, and Interconnection Projects. You’ll love

- You are a proactive and adaptable project professional who enjoys working on diverse and challenging projects to improve
engineers, designers, project managers and construction managers to deliver high-quality projects.
- Act as a project manager for a portfolio of multiple projects with medium to high impact/ complexity.
- Develop, monitor and manage project plans, including scope, budget, and schedule in order to accomplish project
- Review work in progress and assess completed work for accuracy, required results and quality assurance.
- Often act as Project Manager for projects being delivered by External Service Providers who support our Engineering and
- Effectively manage and guide team efforts; tracks team progress, adequately anticipates roadblocks, and changes course
areas for improvement.
- Manage multiple activities effectively such as quality assurance, engineering, stakeholder engagement, communication,
establishing standards for implementation to keep the project within allotted time and budget.
- Maintain meaningful relationships with stakeholders including customers, engineers and field crews through regular
- Effectively represent BC Hydro to external stakeholders and in working with contractors as our projects execute.
- Select and adjust the delivery and/ or contracting model used within projects to ensure smooth delivery of work.
- Travel to site as and when needed to meet internal and external groups, and support design, permitting and field

What you bring
- Intermediate technical knowledge in a specific utility-related field (i.e. Engineering, Technical, Trade, Business or
- Up to seven (7) years of progressively complex Project Management experience within electric utility, engineering firm,
- Solid written and oral communication skills with an ability to explain challenging technical issues to a technical and non-
technical audience.
- Demonstrated experience interacting with permitting agencies and engaging effectively with a range of stakeholder
- Keen grasp and ability to describe project management fundamentals.
- Ability and experience effectively managing multi-disciplinary staff and consultant project teams and engaging
- Ability to detect, manage, mitigate and report project risks.
- Ability to manage a demanding work load and evaluate priorities on a daily basis according to risks.

- Skill, experience, and certification in different project delivery models from: procurement, contracting, negotiation,

- Experience working in Distribution or Transmission line of business would be an asset.
- Project Management Institute (PMI) certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent.

Flexibility of headquarters. Although the headquarter is listed as Edmonds 10, other BC Hydro office locations will be
considered, subject to space availability.
