Title: Industrial Engineer- Intern
Term: 6 Month Contract June-Dec 2026
Reports To: Operations Manager

Role Overview:
This 6-month contract role is ideal for an Industrial Engineering recent graduate seeking hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in mapping our 60,000 sq. ft. production and warehouse facility, improving inventory organization, and implementing a structured location coding system within our ERP for over 7,000 SKUs.

Responsibilities

  • Review and map current manufacturing and warehouse layouts, including storage areas, workstations, and material flow
  • Analyze existing warehouse and inventory processes to identify inefficiencies, space concerns, and workflow bottlenecks
  • Develop updated facility layouts and storage plans to improve organization, accessibility, and operational flow
  • Reorganize inventory by creating logical product groupings and reducing scattered storage across the warehouse
  • Create and maintain a structured location coding system for more than 7,000 inventory parts
  • Ensure inventory locations are accurately reflected within the ERP system and work closely with internal ERP/IT users to maintain data integrity
  • Support warehouse improvement initiatives focused on picking efficiency, inventory accuracy, and space utilization
  • Recommend and implement inventory control standards, labeling practices, and organizational procedures
  • Assist with 5S, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement activities within the warehouse and production environment
  • Maintain clear documentation of layouts, inventory structures, workflows, and process updates
  • Prepare progress updates, reports, and recommendations for management· Develop SOPs and training materials to support new processes and warehouse procedures.

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field
  • Previous internships, co-op, warehouse, manufacturing, or project experience is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working with large sets of data and identifying practical process improvements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with AutoCAD, Visio, or similar layout/design tools is considered an asset
  • Basic understanding of inventory management, warehouse operations, and ERP systems preferred
  • Interest or exposure to warehouse layout planning, facility organization, or inventory optimization
  • Understanding of SKU organization, inventory classification, and storage practices is considered an asset
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
