Are you looking for an exciting summer job working with individuals with various abilities?
Join our progressive non-profit organization this summer and get paid to grow your skills and expand your horizons!
Temporary summer positions have the potential to become permanent in the fall.
The position entail working within a support team in a day program/centre, community settings, or group home settings; assisting adults who may have physical, developmental, mental health issues, and/or acquired brain injuries. Applicants must possess exemplary communication skills, be compassionate and energetic, and be comfortable supporting individuals with various disabilities.
The Canada Summer Jobs program duration is 8 weeks between June 1st to August 29 and requires applicants to meet the following eligibility criteria:
- be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
- be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
Position Details (1 openings available)
- Position: Support Worker (Canada Summer Jobs)
- Location: Port Coquitlam, BC
- Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday; schedule may vary based on programming needs)
- Duration: 8 weeks temporary summer position
- Start Date: Immediately
- End Date: August 28, 2026 (Ideally two months from start date)
- Compensation: $21.00 per hour
Positions are full time with shifts ranging from 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday, with the possibility of occasional evening or weekend work. (The Employer reserves the right to make changes to your schedule as per the collective agreement).
Compensation: $21 per hour
Job Duties May Include but Not Limited to:
- Providing direct care, support, and assistance to individuals
- Following individual care plans*Implementing personal protocols, schedules, and activities
- Accompanying/transporting individuals to appointments and activities in the community
- Completing daily documentation
- Hospitality duties: cleaning, cooking, laundry
- Working as a team player
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, organized, and welcoming environment
- Leisure recreation activities
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Class (5) BC driver's license or Government-issued ID
- Minimum of one (1) year in university/college
- Criminal Record Clearance
- Negative TB Test
- Food Safe
- First Aid/CPR C
