Overview:

Are you a professional, positive, and attentive caregiver who has a passion for helping others in the community? Pacific Coast Health Services is currently looking for a weekday 24-hour Live-in Caregiver in the Victoria area to cover a two-month vacation leave from mid-December to mid-February.

The client is alert and oriented and able to direct care. There is state-of-the-art equipment in place and 24/7 access to nursing support. You will receive additional training and support from the Pacific Coast Nursing Team, as well as several buddy shifts to orient to the position. This is one-on-one care where the caregiver remains at the client's home. Training shifts begin as soon as possible. If desired, this position has the potential for additional hours with this and other clients, after the vacation leave.

You must have previous experience in health care or providing supportive assistance to someone with high needs.

Position Summary:
We are looking for a caregiver who can work five live-in shifts per week, from 3 pm on Sunday until noon on Friday. Each day, the Live-in caregiver has a four-hour break, with coverage present if you wish to leave. This is one-on-one care, except in the mornings when a second caregiver will assist with morning care. The Live-in caregiver will have a private room and sleep at the client's home.

  • Assistance in the bathroom, shower
  • Meal preparation
  • Assistance with feeding
  • Accompany client on errands and to appointments
  • Drive client's wheelchair accessible van

*Will also receive additional training from Pacific Coast to provide:

  • Medication assistance
  • Lifts and transfers
  • Bowel care
  • Special care needs
  • Transportation in accessible van

About You:

  • You have experience caring for someone at home or in a facility
  • You have a valid certification in CPR and First Aid
  • A certification, or health related degree, from BC or another province or country is also an asset
  • You have the ability to obtain a Clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search upon hire
  • You can provide two references who will tell us you are reliable and punctual
  • You have a caring, helpful attitude and are a positive, team player
  • You are comfortable with small, friendly dogs
  • You have a reliable vehicle and cell phone
  • You agree to comply with all vaccination requirements that apply to our agency via Public Health Officer Order or contract
