Comptroller
Full Time | 40 Hours Weekly| 8:30am to 5pm | Brampton, ON | $141,000.00- $147,000.00 annually

EFry Hope and Help is a charity working with women impacted by incarceration, homelessness, substance use, sexual exploitation or human trafficking.

We are recruiting a Full time Comptroller with experience managing a diverse workload, multi funders, tight reporting deadlines, and working in a hands-on environment. Overseeing the Finance Department, you ensure integrity of all financial operations, including the development and maintenance of financial processes, accounting systems, and reporting procedures. You will work closely with the Executive Director to guide business and funding planning, budgeting, financial controls, and reporting. The position provides strategic oversight of payroll, accounting, purchasing, insurance, IT, telecommunications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring smooth daily operations and strong administrative support.
  • Maintain and improve accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures in accordance with GAAP principles for not-for-profit organizations.
  • Produce accurate monthly financial statements, operational reports, and year-end audit materials.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and annual budget preparation with the Executive Director.
  • Act as the main contact for auditors and support Board-level financial reporting.
  • Manage cash flow, monthly reconciliations, and compliance with payroll and tax requirements.
  • Ensure secure, compliant handling of all financial data and maintain organizational insurance coverage. Approve payroll, and manage capital assets including recording, amortization, and disposal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or diploma in a related field plus a recognized accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA).
  • At least 5 years of progressive financial experience and 3+ years in management.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial practices across nonprofit, private, or government sectors.
  • Able to work directly with funders and program leaders, translating service needs into practical financial processes.
  • Excellent communicator with proven relationship building skills.
  • Experienced in leading organizational change and thriving in fast paced environments.
  • Proactive, detail oriented, and committed to continuous improvement. Strong analytical, organizational, and financial operations management abilities.
  • Advanced skills in forecasting, financial analysis, budgeting, and audit preparation. Advanced skills in financial forecasting, management analysis, budget execution, and audit planning.

MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Review and Enhanced Relaibility Clearance.
