Full job description

Strive Living Society is currently seeking experienced care providers to provide care and support in their own home to individuals with mental health, addictions, and/or developmental disabilities. This is a contracted position with a broad range of compensation. We are currently seeking care providers in the following areas: Williams Lake, Quesnel, and 100 Mile House.

Care providers must be comfortable supporting individuals with complex health needs, developmental disabilities, challenging behaviors, mental health issues, and addictions. Prospective care providers should have a separate suite or bedroom to welcome an individual with a disability into their home. Home Sharing involves assisting individuals with their everyday lives in a holistic manner within your own home.

Prospective care providers should:

  • Be comfortable working individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals
  • Have a minimum of one year experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Have a minimum of one year of medical and/or community support experience (i.e. care aide, nursing, community support work, mental health worker, addiction counsellor, social work, etc.)
  • Experience working with an individual with difficult/challenging behaviours
  • Be comfortable with addictions and substance abuse
  • Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Training an asset

Additional Qualifications (or willing to obtain):

  • Emergency First Aid
  • CPR (level A)
  • A clear criminal record check
  • A Valid BC Driver's License, and a driver's abstract from ICBC

Contract’s range from $1,500-$5,000 per month.

In the cover letter you need to have the following information: who lives in the home (adults, children, pets), what accommodations are available (room or suite), what level of the home the accommodations are located (ground level, upstairs or main floor) and a description of your experience working with individuals with disabilities, mental health, addictions and/or medical issues.
