About us:

At Saskatchewan Behaviour Consulting we implement Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy which is an evidence-based science that breaks complex skills into small increments. All treatment recommendations are derived from precise data collection through the implementation of evidence-based practices. Each child has an individualized treatment package which is determined by parent priorities and clinical recommendations/ expertise. We specialize in working with families of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome & other Developmental Disabilities across their lifespan.

Register Behaviour Technician (RBT)/Behaviour Therapist (BT) Job Description:

As a Behaviour Therapist (BT) you will be responsible for following specialized treatment plans and programs for your cliental instructed by your supervisor who is a Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). You will write up what you will be implementing with your client before your session and follow through with the written instructions provided by the BCBA/Supervisor. During sessions, you will be teaching while playing and interacting with your client. You will be expected to identify current and potential reinforcers for your client and run trials based on your trained knowledge. As you teach new skills you will collect data based on your clients' performances. During this time, sessions will be fun, engaging and activities will be mostly led by the child. Once sessions are complete, you will write up your data and complete thorough session notes for your supervisor to read. You will have ongoing support and training for questions to be answered and to ensure we are providing the highest quality of care for our clients.

Job Type:

Part time or full-time availability

*Full-time applicants will start out working part time during the training process and work their way up to full time to ensure proper training and supervision is provided during the onboarding process.*

Schedule:

Monday to Friday: 8:45am-4:45pm

What are we looking for:

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with children and/or youth with neurodiversity’s (preferred but not necessary)
  • Driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle (required)
  • Clear criminal record check, with vulnerable person’s sector
  • Completed First AID with CPR
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours
  • Excellent team building skills with other staff members
  • Kind, energetic and enthusiastic about helping others
  • Willingness to learn, be coached, and have ongoing training and support by supervisors

What you will do:

  • Implement programs according to treatment plans
  • Prepare teaching materials
  • Address personal care needs
  • Teach skills including but not limited to: self-care skills (toileting, hand washing, dressing, putting on shoes etc.), expressive language, receptive language, alternative augmentative communication using electronic devices, social skills, school readiness skills, managing challenging or interfering behaviours
  • Build strong rapport with clients by playing and engaging with them on their level and based on their interests
  • Maintain ongoing communication with your BCBA/Supervisor
  • Practice within your scope of competencies
