Nurse Practitioner – Family Medicine / Primary Care
About the Opportunity
An established and expanding family medicine practice in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join its growing clinical team.
The successful candidate will work alongside a group of three family physicians, providing comprehensive primary care and supporting the ongoing healthcare needs of a diverse patient population.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Nurse Practitioner who enjoys independent clinical practice, continuity of care and working within a collaborative physician-led environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently assess, diagnose and manage patients within the Nurse Practitioner's authorised scope of practice.
- Provide comprehensive primary care for acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Manage patients with diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, COPD, asthma and other chronic conditions.
- Provide preventive healthcare, health promotion and cancer screening services.
- Conduct women's health assessments and provide reproductive healthcare.
- Prescribe medications and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Review and manage laboratory results, diagnostic imaging and investigations.
- Coordinate specialist referrals and follow-up care.
- Provide continuity of care for patients within the practice.
- Independently see and manage patients when family physicians are unavailable.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses and administrative staff to ensure efficient delivery of patient-centred care.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Master's degree in Nursing with Nurse Practitioner qualification.
- Current registration and appropriate practising authority with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
- Previous experience in family medicine, primary care or community healthcare is strongly preferred.
- Excellent clinical assessment, diagnostic and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication, organisational and clinical documentation skills.
