The Role

We are looking for a 16-month temporary Human Resources Generalist to join our team. This position will be responsible for employee relations, HR operations, projects and general HR team support.

The Human Resources team is focused on attracting and retaining high performing employees, empowering Pasonites, encouraging a culture of learning and development, and supporting our business goals. We support Pason's unique culture and values through recruitment, payroll, benefits, compensation, training and development, and employee relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • Provide coaching and guidance to leaders and employees on performance management, employee relations, policy interpretation and conflict resolution
  • Foster Pason’s culture through continuous feedback, open dialogue, and support
  • Partner with leaders on workforce decisions (i.e. progressions, leaves, terminations)
  • Identify trends in employee relations and recommend proactive solutions

HR Operations

  • Maintain accurate employee data in the HRIS (UKG) and ensure data integrity
  • Prepare employee documentation, manage files, and ensure compliance with policies and legislation
  • Administer leave programs (i.e. maternity/parental, unpaid leave etc.)
  • Complete full employee lifecycle data entry in the HRIS
  • Stay current on employee legislation and ensure compliance with provincial standards
  • Maintain continuity of ongoing HR programs and initiatives ensuring seamless coverage during the term
  • Support or lead assigned projects

General HR Support

  • Support onboarding, offboarding, transfers and exit interviews
  • Coordinate onboarding activities to deliver a strong employee experience
  • Conduct exit interviews and identify themes for improvement
  • Support HR projects and initiatives as needed
  • Submit annual holiday calendars and full-cycle vacation management

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of proven Human Resources experience, ideally in employee relations, HR Generalist, or HR Operations roles
  • Strong knowledge of employment standards, labour legislation, and HR best practices, particularly within provincial regulations
  • Demonstrated experience coaching leaders and employees on performance management, employee relations, workplace conflict, and policy interpretation
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Experience administering HR processes and maintaining accurate employee records within an HRIS (UKG experience considered an asset)
  • Solid understanding of the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, transfers, leaves of absence, performance management, and offboarding
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong customer service focus
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Education

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration or Human Resources, or related
