Summary

We are seeking a Designer to join our team in Canada. This role is essential to ensuring customer requirements are translated into accurate, code-compliant designs that support efficient project execution. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Designer develops customized CAD drawings and upholds quality through thorough self and peer review prior to final approval.

Responsibilities

  • Produce material calculations, analysis and associated paperwork that align with production capabilities
  • Produce stair and landing drawings in CAD from architectural and structural drawings, ensuring all product specifications and deadlines are met
  • Collaborate with internal and external parties throughout the design, review, and approval processes
  • Support model and template revisions and development
  • Coordinate with production teams, shop floor staff and QA to resolve drawing discrepancies
  • Adherence to, and participation in, quality control measures, including project documentation, self/peer checks, engineering approval, and root cause analysis/process improvement
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Complete safety training as required, wear required PPE, and engage in safe work practices
  • Other duties as may be required or assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years experience in design/drafting, preferably in concrete, pre-cast, construction, or custom fabrication/production industries
  • 1 to 3 years experience in AutoCAD.
  • Post-secondary education in Architectural Technology, Construction Engineering, Drafting, or other related field
  • Working knowledge of: Blue Beam, or other drafting tools and principles; relevant building codes and design standards (Canada and US); and building structure(s)
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings
  • Ability to problem solve providing innovative solutions in tight timeframes
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and deliver results with a high attention to detail
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
