Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Location: Medicine Hat, AB

Clinic: Southern Alberta Medical

Southern Alberta Medical is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our diagnostic team. This role ensures patient safety in the stress lab by preparing and administering radioactive substances, performing advanced diagnostic imaging, and conducting treadmill stress tests under the supervision of our Cardiologists.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform cardiac nuclear medicine procedures, bone mineral density scans, and exercise stress tests
  • Prepare patients, confirm records and relevant medical history
  • Explain testing procedures and risks to patients clearly and professionally
  • Monitor and document patient vitals during and after stress testing
  • Analyze results and alert cardiologists of abnormal findings or life-threatening arrhythmias
  • Process and prepare reports and test results for physician interpretation
  • Maintain QA and QC logs; troubleshoot and maintain equipment
  • Follow provincial legislation, CNSC regulations, and clinic policies
  • Respond to emergencies and perform resuscitation if required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Program
  • Current CAMRT and ACMDTT registration
  • CPR/BCLS Certification required
  • Completed or willing to complete Michener Institute Cardiac Stress Testing coursework (EK816 & EK817)
  • Professional, and confident, with strong judgment and attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong initiative, problem-solving, and patient-focused communication skills
