Come and manage an emergency department in beautiful Ottawa. The privately owned Ottawa Animal Emergency and Specialty Hospital (OAESH) is looking for an ER Medical Director. We excel at superb patient care and exceeding client expectations. Our emphasis on work/life balance gives you plenty of time to explore this beautiful, family-friendly city. Take the opportunity to work alongside specialists in surgery, radiology, dentistry, internal medicine and oncology. We offer a competitive compensation package with salary ranging from $200,000 to $250,000, signing bonus, annual continuing education with paid time off, benefits and staff discounts. In this position you will oversee the emergency department in a dynamic referral and specialty hospital in Ottawa.

The role involves managing daily operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and maintaining efficient workflows. This leader collaborates with a team of emergency veterinarians, specialists, and support staff to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to clients and their pets. Responsibilities include clinical work, staff management, performance evaluations, training, and implementing protocols to enhance patient outcomes. The ER Medical Director also plays a key role in strategic planning, business development, and maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations. This position requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities: Manage and lead the emergency team, ensuring high standards of patient care. Develop and implement protocols to optimize efficiency and clinical outcomes. Conduct performance reviews, provide training, and mentor ER staff. Collaborate with specialists and hospital management to ensure cohesive operations. Contribute to business development, strategic planning, and hospital growth. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain hospital accreditation. Qualifications: DVM or equivalent with at least 5 years experience in high level emergency and critical care. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to create and maintain team spirit!
