Storekeeper / Inventory Supervisor

Position Information:

The Company

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Be responsible for controlling all operations for the ship warehouse
  • Plan, assign and supervise the work of storage workers
  • Responsible for processing purchasing transactions for ships' inventories; requisition supplies and materials.
  • Maintain inventory control utilizing FIFO. Regular inventory takes must be conducted, ensuring the physical inventory always matches the documented inventory.
  • Ensure proper storage for all goods, meeting company Health and Safety requirements.
  • Control that spoilage and inventory discrepancies to be kept to a minimum.
  • Ensure the warehouse and working areas are clean and always organized
  • Coordinate the deliveries from the warehouse to be be completed on time and as per the schedule.
  • Ensure all deliveries from the warehouse are properly documented and hard copies kept in the storekeepers' office.
  • Expiry dates of products are to be controlled. Items with short expiry windows must be prioritized, and the managers concerned must be informed well in advance to avoid spoilage.
  • Monitor smooth operation of assigned equipment and machinery, arrange for maintenance and repair when necessary.
  • Ensure regular reports are sent to the concerned managers on time
  • Responsible for establishing and implementing a training program for direct reports. Records of training must be kept.
  • Monitor performance of supervised workers.
  • Resolve complaints and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in supply chain, business management or related training
  • Required to hold valid MED Domestic Vessel Safety certificate, Crowd and Crisis Management certificate, marine medical certificate, which employer will support arranging and subsidizing
  • Minimum 3 years of proven experience in inventory control or storekeeping, in a food service or cruise ship environment
  • Proficiency in shipboard inventory software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment

Working Conditions

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50lbs
  • Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
