Full job description

Regehr Workplace Safety Solutions Ltd. (RWSS) is currently seeking an experienced Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 3 to join our growing team.

The right candidate will be someone with hands-on experience in the field, passionate about health and safety and interested in furthering their career in the OHS field through ongoing experience and training.

Availability to fill shifts on short notice is strongly considered an asset. Candidates with a background in nursing and/or first responders who are seeking casual, on-call work, are encouraged to apply.

We work with a range of different business types including powerline & electrical, construction, mining, and manufacturing. Our team works hard to create a committed, collaborative safety culture within our clients’ organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide immediate and appropriate medical assistance in case of workplace injuries, illnesses, or emergencies
  • Assess the nature and severity of injuries or medical conditions, and prioritize treatment based on the level of urgency
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all medical treatments provided, including patient information, injuries, treatments administered, and outcomes
  • Ensure that first aid equipment and supplies are properly maintained, stocked, and ready for use
  • Regularly conduct and submit vehicle and equipment inspections to help ensure all equipment and supplies are meeting all necessary standards and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and guidelines
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other health and safety team members, and individuals on the job site

Qualifications:

  • A valid OFA 3 Certification - Advanced FA Ticket
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in first aid
  • A valid BC driver’s license with a clean driving record (drivers abstract will be required)
  • Strong understanding of the construction/trades industry and environment
  • A minimum of one year of relevant construction/trades specific experience

Additional certifications Considered an Asset:

  • Trade Certificate
  • Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) in addition to OFA 3
  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO) Certificate
  • Class 4 BC Driver’s License

Benefits:

Upon acceptance of a full-time, permanent position, team members become eligible for additional training and education related to pursuing a full-time career in Occupational Health & Safety, including financial support while pursuing a certificate and/or diploma in OHS. Much of this training can be completed through distance learning while on the job.
