SENIOR BUSINESS FINANCIAL ANALYST (FIXED-TERM)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Senior Business Financial Analyst on behalf of our client, Equinox Gold, Valentine Gold Mine. The ideal candidate would have an undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, or Accounting, professional designation, 5+ years’ experience in a similar role, and experience in ERP systems, specifically SAP S4.

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Business Financial Analyst will play a key role in implementing SOX framework and supporting the Valentine Gold Mine (VGM) in operational and cost management.

This is a fixed-term position working Monday to Friday preferably from the Grand Falls-Windsor office with ad-hoc travel to the Mine site.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the implementation of SOX framework for VGM including documentation and rollout.
  • Support audit testing and reviews, both internally and externally, and with year-end audit.
  • Lead internal process implementation and testing for VGM.
  • Partnering with the business to provide S4 HANA support, business cost management, process issue resolution.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of the annual business plan, budget, and periodic financial forecasts, in collaboration with the mine site departments.
  • Develop and maintain cost analysis reports and generate pertinent financial analysis of the data; support ad hoc financial analysis to support the site leadership team.
  • Accountable for the development, interpretation and implementation of financial models and accounting concepts or techniques for financial planning.
  • Responsible for analyzing financial results of various business units, focusing on variances from fiscal plans and forecasts.
  • Provide support for the development and reporting of key performance indicators for senior level management and enhance the process of reporting on business performance.
  • Analyze results against trends and benchmarks in an effort to find efficiencies and opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Professional designation is required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in ERP systems, specifically SAP S4, is required.
  • Experience with project accounting and reporting for medium to large scale mining projects is an asset.
  • Experience in a remote, operational, or industrial environment is considered an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with solid analytical skills, understanding of the business process, and systems optimization.
  • Ability to review data, develop and create effective solutions and make recommendations to management in the decision-making process.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate.
  • Strong demonstrated use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to exercise appropriate levels of discretion and confidentiality.
  • A valid driver’s license and driver’s abstract required.
