Job Description:

At Next Compression, we’re searching for a Field Service Tech Lead for our Grande Prairie region who’s ready to level up, taking ownership of a region, developing top‑tier technicians, and stepping into a leadership role where you’re empowered to make real decisions.

If you’re driven to lead, build, and make a real impact, this is the opportunity for you!

What You’ll Be Doing – and Why It Matters:

You’ll be in the field enough to stay grounded in the work, and in the branch enough to lead effectively, planning, coaching, and strengthening your region for long-term success.

Your Impact Will Include:

  • Grow and support your region by leading day to day service operations and strengthening customer relationships.
  • Lead, coach, hire, and develop technicians, ensuring they have the skills, training, and support to excel.
  • Oversee commissioning, repairs, and maintenance work, maintaining NEXT’s standards for safety, quality, and execution.
  • Review and approve job packages, ensuring quotes, invoices, and work performed align accurately.
  • Coordinate service activities, manage costs, and maintain healthy utilization across your team.
  • Ensure operational readiness, including safe work practices, equipment condition, and technician preparedness.

You’ll influence revenue, customer loyalty, safety performance, and the overall success of your technicians. Your fingerprints will be everywhere.

What Your First Year Looks Like:

First 90 Days: You’ll learn the region, the people, the processes, and begin taking the lead on coordination, customer interactions, and team support.

6 Months: You’ll be fully owning day-to-day operations, coaching your team, reviewing job packages, and driving utilization and quality metrics.

12 Months: You will be recognized as the operational anchor of your region, a trusted leader who delivers results and builds strong teams. You’ll be influencing strategy, helping grow your technician base, strengthening customer loyalty, and improving processes.

What You Bring:

  • Journeyman certification (Gas Compression, Heavy Duty, or Millwright)
  • Strong working knowledge of natural gas compressor systems
  • Experience commissioning, servicing, or overhauling the equipment we operate
  • Must be located or willing to relocate to the Grande Prairie area

Nice-to-Haves:

  • 3-5 years in a similar lead/foreman role
  • 10+ years in natural gas compression
  • Valid H2S, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, CSO
  • Confined space certification
  • Audiogram testing (can be provided)

Perks & Benefits:

  • Competitive Salary, plus OT for billable work
  • RRSP matching, Health spending account, & extended health benefits
  • A strong safety culture
  • A team that supports each other, no egos, no heroes, just people who want to do good work

Growth and Development: At Next Compression we believe in empowering our employees to reach their full potential. We foster a culture that encourages:

Autonomy and Decision-Making: You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your work and make meaningful decisions that impact your responsibilities.

Open Communication and Collaboration: Your ideas and perspectives are valued, and you'll be encouraged to share your input and collaborate with colleagues across the organization.

Continuous Learning: We support your professional growth through on-the-job learning, exposure to new challenges, and opportunities to develop your skills.
